Join the CIM Team
At the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), we’re the trusted voice and knowledge hub for Canada’s minerals and metals sector. From deep underground to the global stage, this industry spans geographies, disciplines, and technologies — and it's more relevant than ever in today’s critical conversations about sustainability, innovation, and the future of resources.
We’re looking for someone who can help us stay in tune with what matters. Someone who ensures our content stays sharp, focused, and aligned with the fast-evolving realities of this vital sector.
What is CIM?
Headquartered in Montreal, the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) is where technical expertise meets industry impact. As a not-for-profit society, we’re dedicated to advancing knowledge, nurturing professionals, and building powerful partnerships across Canada's mining and minerals sector. With a global network and a local reach, CIM is the go-to hub for professionals involved in every phase of the minerals lifecycle.
From flagship events like CIM CONNECT to focused workshops, expert-led training, and respected publications, we deliver the insight and connections that keep our industry moving forward.
We’re seeking a passionate storyteller and strategist to help us elevate technical content across Canada’s mining sector — events, professional development, and editorial.
What You’ll Do
- Build relationships and conduct insightful conversations with CIM Society and Branch executives, corporate partners, and industry stakeholders to gather content ideas
- Analyze data across CIM platforms to uncover trends and spark new content opportunities
- Collaborate with our Publications team to craft compelling content marketing strategies that resonate with our members
- Work hand-in-hand with our Events team to ensure the technical program reflects real-world innovations, on-the-ground lessons, and cutting-edge projects from across the industry
What You Bring to the Table
You’ve got a strong grasp of the minerals lifecycle and understand the ins and outs of Canada’s minerals industry ecosystem. You know how to connect with the right people and ask the right questions to uncover valuable insights. You’re a sharp communicator and an even sharper listener, with a talent for drawing out stories, lessons, and knowledge that might otherwise stay tucked away. You’re comfortable with data, with the skills to analyze trends, spot gaps, and connect the dots. Silos don’t stand a chance.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Education & Experience
- A degree or diploma in a related field such as Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Knowledge Management, Mining/Metallurgical Engineering, or other relevant disciplines
- 5+ years of experience in content strategy, stakeholder engagement, program development, or industry communications
- Experience working in or with the natural resources sector — particularly mining, metallurgy, or energy — is a strong asset
- Familiarity with professional associations, technical societies, or member-driven organizations is a plus
Skills & Mindset
- Proven ability to gather insights through conversations, interviews, and data analysis
- Comfortable navigating both high-level strategy and detail-driven execution
- A natural connector — able to build relationships and communicate effectively across diverse teams and professional backgrounds
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage competing priorities and multiple content streams
- Comfortable interpreting data to support content decisions and measure impact
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
