Description
The proceedings are evenly divided between English-only and French-only sessions.
Since 2002, the Rouyn-Noranda Symposium on Mines and the Environment has been a key platform for sharing knowledge and best practices in mine environmental management. While technology has advanced greatly over the past 20 years, science continues to evolve, offering new solutions to both longstanding and emerging challenges in the mining sector. The Symposium plays a vital role in facilitating the exchange of ideas between researchers, industry professionals, and government representatives, promoting responsible and sustainable mining.
This 8th edition is the result of a collaboration between the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT), the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), Polytechnique Montréal, and several government and industry partners. The program reflects the pressing issues of 2025 and highlights innovative solutions.
This proceedings volume features papers from presenters, organized under four main themes: Geochemistry and Mine Water Treatment; Mine Waste Management and Valorization; Mine Site Reclamation and Revegetation; and Environment, Society, and Governance. We thank the authors and presenters for their valuable contributions, and the volunteer reviewers for helping to ensure high-quality content.
